Course description

The aim of the course is to explain the principles of operation of basic financial products and services in current conditions and to teach them how to navigate in the area of ​​personal finance and money. The graduate of the course will be able to responsibly manage a personal/family budget, including the management of financial assets and financial liabilities with regard to changing life situations.

1) Introduction to the topic, the basic meaning of financial literacy (FG)

- Why learn FG?
- Financial, price and budget literacy

2) Money and its time value. Money management

- Currency, safeguards, counterfeiting and alteration
- Damaged currency
- Cashless money
- Time value of money - present and future value
- Inflation - characteristics, measurement, consumer basket
- Types of interest rates, methods of interest
- Basic banking services

3) Lons, credits, payment cards

- Consumer loans - distribution, characteristics
- Subprime Loans, APRC
- Leasing
- Debit and credit card

4) Risks and how to protect against them

- Risk and insurance, principle of insurance, meaning of insurance
- Life and non-life insurance, basic products
- Insurance contract

5) Saving and investing

- Basic characteristics, differences and risks
- Basic savings instruments
- Basic investment instruments, regular investing

6) Investment in own housing

- Own housing vs. rent
- Mortgage loans

7) Old age insurance, annuity

- Financial products for old age insurance and their principles
- Transformed and Participating funds
- Reserve life insurance
- Long-term regular investing

8) Personal financial planning

- Household (family) management
- Family budget - real income and expenses
- Adaptation of the budget, methods of management

9) Consumer protection and rights in the financial market

- Debts, debt trap
- Registers of debtors
- Foreclosure, personal bankruptcy
