The summer language courses for international students are organised by the Ministry of Education and Sports of Albania in cooperation with local universities. The programme usually includes intensive language lessons (focusing on grammar and phonetics practice, vocabulary development, conversational skills, etc.) or a series of lectures on culture, history, literature and local realia. Before the course begins, students are usually divided into study groups according to their language skills, usually on the basis of a placement test. Classes, led by experienced native speakers, are often combined with an accompanying events consisting of guided tours, visits to museums and monuments, film evenings and theatre performances.
The Summer School of Albanian Language is organised each year by the University of Tirana from 1 September to 30 September.
The participation at summer schools is funded by the Ministry of Education and Sports of Albania.
Under the current bilateral agreement, the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth of Albania decides on the admission of candidates. Final results of the application proceedings will be announced by the foreign partner at the end of April. Information on the organisation of the course is sent by the summer school organiser in early August.
The scholarship consists of free participation in the course, accompanying events, accommodation and meals. The scholarship holders do not receive any payments.
